A great feminist work, about friendship and love, suicide and grief, depression and violence against women, from childhood in francophone Ontario to the punk squats of California to the Montreal of the 2010’s as experienced by a group of militant and marginalized friends.
A boy committed suicide in a vacant lot in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve where he often spent the day lying in the sun and the night making fires. He woke up one morning in August and hung himself from a tree. Friends survive him. They carry his memory and continue to live, to struggle, to love, confronting the loves of the present with those of the past. They recount mistakes, lost friends, fears, the few victories and explosions of revolt.
